This example is laser cutting 1/16″ thick 1/2 hard 301 stainless steel, using oxygen as the ist gas instead of an inert gas such as nitrogen. Oxygen is used for faster cutting, whereas nitrogen is slower but has a cleaner, shiny edge.
The laser cutting machine is a Mazak X-48 Super Turbo Mk II 1,500 Watt, which can cut up to 1/4″ thick stainless steel.
